About me

A story of time, mechanism, and passion

A. Laibacher — ZeitMaschinen Werkstatt is my handmade mechanical watch workshop, established in 2015 in the village of Visoko, high above Ljubljana. The name — a blend of the historical German name for Ljubljana and the word for time machines — reflects my approach: respect for tradition, commitment to handcraft, and love of mechanics. Visoko — high, just like my standards, just like my home. In Slovenian, Visoko means "high."

"A watch is not merely an instrument for measuring time — it is a machine that captures time, slows it down, and makes it tangible."

— Andrej Laibacher

My philosophy

In an age of smartwatches and digital screens, I persist with gears, springs, and balance wheels. Each watch is the antithesis of mass production — a slow, deliberate process that demands patience and precision.

The workshop

My workshop in the village of Visoko, high above Ljubljana, is more than a workplace. It is a museum, laboratory, and art studio all at once. With views of the Kamnik Alps and the Ljubljana basin, I create far above the city bustle. Visitors are always welcome — get in touch to arrange a visit and see how time machines are made.
